Honesty and Hard Work: My Message to the Senior Batches of NBS

I think there are two important qualities that might seem disparate but in fact are interrelated that are a requisite in one’s persona. These are hard work and honesty. People who have a habit to work hard are generally more honest because they believe that its their hard work and the Will of God Almighty alone that is responsible for their success. However, people who lack this important quality and instead resort to cheating or other despicable means for earning success never end up succeeding. Hardworking people are also more ethical by default while cheating in any shape, form or manifestation is the worst quality to have. Therefore, we should stay as much away from it as possible and instead work hard, be honest and ethical, not for the sake of other people but our own. I wish you all tremendous success and the very best of this life and hereafter that is on the offer.

Important qualities though they may be, they are a dying one in people these days. I would half say thats a side effect of technology. I mean, as tech gets more and more advances, things get done faster and faster and we get used to that.

That transfers into everything that we do. So rather than being patience, our tolerance levels are going down and thus, rather than being patient and working hard for a goal, we rather prefer to take the short way and get the reward now. And in a round about way they'll justify it as being ethical because they "didnt have enough time to wait."

Its a sad and sorry state to be in.

I believe all these things that you said were amazing only if someone would understand the depth of it ....one thing that i would like to disagree with is the fact that hard work cannot be linked positively or to be more precise it cannot be concluded that hard work and ethical behavior have a positive correlation. on the contrary it can be the other way round as well and as far as my limited experience is concerned, one does not necessarily get whatever they have worked hard for but if you have faith you would know that it is for your own benefit and believe me sooner or later one realizes that.
